Is technology overwhelming you?

If you are like me there are times when we get overwhelmed with the plethora of apps and tools that are available. We are shifting from one technological innovation to the other and wondering why we are not as productive as we would like to be. Meanwhile on other other side our families, life desires and happiness seems to be waiting for us. We seems to be stuck between coping with the onslaught of technology and fitting our lives to that. It is not always easy. What can we do to bring some sense into our lives. How can we feel that there is meaning to all this?

The secret is clarify your life priorities. Not being clear of our priorities can lead us to feel confusion and chaos. With change happening so fast and the expectations constantly increasing at work and with personal relationships we fell helpless as we are unable to achieve anything meaningful or significant. This is a terrible place to be. If you are in such a place its time to set your priorities right. Here is an exercise that will help you. List out your top five values on a piece of paper. This might be difficult for some one new, so here are some possible values:

Career success

God

Family

Happiness

Freedom

Peace

Money

Recognition

There can be many others but some of the common priorities as above. These are actually ideas that come with feeling. Now once you list out a few you will see for yourself the intensity of feeling for each as you think of each. Ask yourself which is the most important out of these without which it is meaningless to live. Once you identify that ask what is next most important to me. This exercise allows you to have your values brought out from its hiding. This is now very insightful as you will find that the sense of meaning and focus comes when you feel that you are in line with your values. When you are not meeting your values you will be confused and unmotivated. Understanding you value system also allows you to change it where it is unrealistic and creating conflict
